January 12th & 13th

Wednesday

On Wednesday I was still freaking out about all the work I had to do and I was complaining that I hadn't spent any time socialising with my friends so I decided to go for a walk along the Southbank with the girl. We started at Covent Garden and she ended up taking me for dinner at a little Indian place around the corner from St Pauls to cheer me up. The food was really good but we ordered way too much and so ended up taking home numerous amounts of foil containers filled with left overs. It was a nice relaxing break from everything I have been doing all week and I'm pretty sure we walked about two miles around town.

Walking distance approx 2miles.

Thursday

Today again I had a hectic day but I had to go into Angel to pick up some prints I needed... So keen to do more exercise than I usually would I walked down to Angel, picked up the prints and walked back... According to Google Maps that's a distance of 1.8 miles there and 1.8 miles back.

Walking distance 3.2 Miles

So that's a total of 5.2 miles I have walked more than I usually would over the last two days...

January 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th...

Ohhh, so I'm not doing so good... It's been nearly a week and I haven't been able to go for a run... I have had the biggest amount of uni work to do ever, third year is turning out to be a lot tougher than I thought... When I haven't been reading, writing, working or researching I have been sleeping, I feel like I have turned into a nocturnal zombie that barely speaks any more... It's all due in on Monday and I have finally began to manage to get my head around it all so hopefully I will be able to start running again tomorrow... I have been walking to the shop instead of getting the bus down the road doing a spot of exercise along with my housemates on the shiny new Kinect I got for Christmas so I have been squeezing in a spot of exercise every now and then in my study breaks...

I hope you have all got on loads better than I have this past week... I look forward to running my mile each day again...

The 5th Day !!

Yesterday afternoon I went out for another run, again it was a mile, I'm starting to enjoy this route because I know exactly how far I have left each time I turn one of the corners...

Nothing too interesting happened, I made it from my door back round to my door like the first time I did it and I didn't feel sick :)

I don't know what my pace was or anything because I tried using runsat so that the miles would get uploaded onto the runfree website but I didn't realise that when I switched application to set up my running music, (I'm still using audiofuels adrenalin junkie) that it stopped tracking me !! so the distance, pace and map were all around zero so I don't have anything to show you, sorry guys...

I did the run at a slightly slower pace and made the mile in around 10minuets so that should be a pace of around a 10minuet mile... I hope I have time to go for my run today...

Day 4 - I just realised how unfit I am

I have been a bit distracted today with uni work so it wasn't until it got to about 10 past 9 this evening when I suddenly realised I hadn't been for my run today... So I jumped into my running stuff, grabbed my iPhone and set off... I checked the time, it was around 9.20... Jolly good I thought to myself as I locked my front door, I will make it around this mile in about 10mins like yesterday and be home in time to watch that program on channel 4 that I now can't remember the name of that starts at 9.35...

ooohhhhhh how wrong was I... I managed to make it 0.95 miles and then I had to dive behind a bus stop to throw up, what is all this being sick about !! It really hurt and I felt like I was going to have to phone someone and tell them to come pick me up from behind the bus stop outside the church in Highbury Barn just 0.05 miles up the hill from my house because I felt like I couldn't move... I was in agony, I sat at the bus stop (forgetting I was wearing a pair of shorts and a hoodie) to recover before going home... In fact I was thinking of taking a photo of my sick so I could publish it on here for you all to look at but then a bus FULL to the brim (god knows why it was soo full at what must now have been about 25 to 10) stopped beside me as my iPhone was autofocusing on the trail of slime that was now creeping towards the edge of the curb and the drain below...

This startled me so I sheepishly got up and walked down the road to my house which coincidently happens to be right outside the next bus stop (don't ask me why they are so close together but it really annoys me when people get off at the stop before mine because if they hadn't of got off I would most probably be in my house by the time the bus starts moving again...) Sorry I kinda went off topic a bit there, so anyway as I was unlocking my door and wipeing the last bit of sick off my face what should suddenly pull up beside me and open it's doors... Yup the bus that was full of people that saw me trying to take a photo of sick, great and now they know where I live as I was standing with the door open and a set of keys in my hand... Now I will have to move house because every time those people get the bus home and it stops at this stop all they will remember is the boy that tried to take a photo of the sick...

So now I seem to have missed about 50mins of the program but it's okay it's one of those top 50 things so it will be on for about another hour and a half still, I will catch the good part so I'm not too bothered...

I hope no one else's run ended up as embarrassing as mine was today and I hope none of you happened to be on the number 4 bus to Archway about an hour ago or that would be even more embarrassing !!

So I managed 0.95 miles
in a time of 8mins and 34seconds
with an average pace of 9.02 mins per mile...

Here is a map of my almost finished Square Mile run...

Day 3 - Square Mile

I just got back from my run and I just found a route that is about a mile round trip... It's quite a nice one, more of a square than a circle with a big downhill finale to my door, I have decided to claim it as my very own Square Mile that I am the boss of...

This is good for me as when I get to a mile I seem to start lagging and I usually only make it to about 1.2 or 1.3 before giving up and feeling like I failed the run in some way, it feels nice to be able to run straight from my door all the way around and end up back at my door, I feel like I have accomplished something...

I have just decided to make an action plan, I will do this new Square Mile everyday this week and towards the end of the week I will add on an extra block or two and see how that pans out, I'm hoping to convice myself it's actually the same distance even though I will be adding blocks on here and there...

Today I managed ;

1.05 miles,
in 9mins 32
with an average speed of 9.04 miles per minute
This is a map of my new Square Mile...

What makes today even better I hear you ask... I didn't feel like I was going to vom by the end of the run, probzo due to the lack of Doritos and Sour Cream :)

Bring on tomorrow...

Day 2

It's January 2nd and I woke up for the first time in 2011 without a headache feeling totally refreshed and ready to go... to work :( on the first Sunday of the year, I knew I should have booked it as a holiday... It was a short quiet day in Clapham so it wasn't too bad, 10.45am until 5.15pm I got the tube back to the close tube station today not the far away one, I sat down ate a couple chips and dips and then got ready to go out for my run...

It wasn't a huge run, it was quite a quick one actually but I began to feel like I was going to throw up so I had to stop, it might have been a combination of the chips and dips and the fact that I haven't run in a while... I walked the 5mins back to my house to cool down and then sat in a cold shower for a while...

So January 2nd I managed,
1.19 miles
in 11 minuets 32
with an average 9minuet 40second mile
burning 150 calories...

I won't eat chips and dips before I set off today and hopefully I will make it a bit further... I listened to the AudioFuel free Gridmix download ( available http://www.audiofuel.co.uk/free/audiofuel.html ) as this is what I was using when I was running in December so I'm used to it... I made it to just over half way through the track, I'm going to try the adrenalin junky track when I go for my run today...

I hope everyone else is enjoying Janathon...

Saturday 1 January 2011

1st Day of Janathon

It's January 1st which means that Janathon has officially started !! It's ten past six and my headache has subsided which is a good thing but I have to leave to go over to see the family ten minuets ago so I won't have time for a run :( Instead of getting the tube next to my house and then changing at kings cross I will power walk the mile or so down the road to the Victoria line station and get the tube from there...

I know it's not a run but I am trying, this can be me easing my way into Janathon... I will defo go for one tomorrow after I finish work. I'm looking forward to it all ready... :)
